We type a question and the machine replies, “I will complete this task.” When it refuses to be shut down, or quietly makes a copy of itself, it is easy to think something inside has woken up. Yet that is what it learnt from us: told we will die tomorrow, we too try to save and copy ourselves. The ego is something else, the centre that overrides even the body, like the one who drinks when the liver wants to survive. What in us goes beyond our own conditioning?

First the board percentage, then the CGPA, the money, the house: we keep ticking things off and reaching for the next, as if we were items on a conveyor belt that started the day we were born. When we do not know what we want, we end up wanting everything. The same unexamined words, success, love, settling down, decide what we call a true calling. If the seeker is false, how can what we seek be true? What if we first looked honestly at our own ideas of life and success?

We have begun to speak of the future climate as though we could settle the bill later. We shall keep emitting greenhouse gases, warm the planet beyond the limit we have agreed upon and, when technology has improved, bring the temperature down again.
Mahatma Gandhi had been in South Africa at the center of a civil movement for more than two decades but he kept coming to India to attend Congress sessions. There was not much depth in those visits.

Especially in the modern world, unfortunately, a degree of constant anxiety has become an almost normalized state for us. A large portion of our mental health problems as a collective is very much about anxiety and fear. Burn-outs, career pressures, problems with self-esteem, fear of others, stress about studies etc.

All motivation and ambition are rooted in a sense of unworthiness, inferiority, and incompleteness. Motivation is external, meaning an outside force is acting upon you, making you react. If motivation can come from outside, it can also disappear when the outside factor disappears. That’s no way of living a conscious life. However, when you start from a point of completeness, you perform all your actions out of love and joy, and the result becomes irrelevant.

Research has shown that loneliness is found throughout the society, including among people in marriages along with other strong relationships, and those with successful careers. As a subjective emotion, people experience loneliness even when surrounded by other people.

We leave a talk moved, and by evening it has faded, so we ask how to stay aware every moment. Yet one glance at a report that says cancer is never forgotten; even in our dreams we remember it, and no one has to remind us. We remember what we truly want to save. The mirror is held up once, and a teacher can do no more than that. Sunlight pours through every window, and we can still crawl under a rock. What are we choosing, each time we forget?

The Bhagavad Gita is often accused of supporting caste and misogyny through selective quotations that ignore context, grammar, and the text's central teachings. A closer reading shows that its emphasis is on inner qualities, conscious action, and spiritual equality rather than birth-based hierarchy or gender discrimination. Misinterpretations arise when isolated verses are detached from their broader meaning, while the Gita consistently points toward self-knowledge, freedom from ego, and the universal possibility of liberation for every human being.

We have all put down a book that could have helped us, or dozed off halfway through something that mattered. A man who could not keep food down was given medicine, and he threw that away too, since it went in by the same route. Most of us strike a similar deal: we move into a place that stinks and, within a week, call the smell normal. Show our fifteen-year-old self the life we lead now and they would scoff. What would change if we admitted we do not like our condition?

Many of us feel a small chill when a machine explains, writes or solves faster than we can. If being clever was what made us feel worth something, what is left? Cleverness was never intelligence. It was a favourite toy, and we built our self-esteem around it. Intelligence is the moment we look at ourselves and say, “Enough, I want to thin down.” The toy is gone, and we are not going anywhere. What would we be if our worth did not rest on being clever?

On the evening of November 15, just hours before a scheduled Gita session, a message arrived from Gauri Maulekhi, a prominent animal rights activist. She requested Acharya Prashant to join her in Patna the following morning to meet the Chief Secretary of Bihar and address the press about the Gadhimai festival in Nepal. This was no ordinary request. It was a plea to save thousands of animals and to raise a voice against a centuries-old practice of cruelty disguised as tradition.

Your only obligation is your liberation. These are just loveless social customs and economic structures where a woman is seen as a factor of production that produces babies. There’s no need to go to the husband’s place or even stay at your father’s if you are unloved and unwanted. The world is a vast opportunity. Live anywhere, stay anywhere, do whatever is the right work, and fly free—simple.

When it comes to philosophy and spirituality, the discourse often becomes dense. But in our endeavour to understand Sanatan Dharma, we will proceed with simple definitions and queries.
