Why don't people like me?

Truth is not about lofty words and scholarly theories. Truth is, first of all, a deep desire to help. If they see that you want to help, they will listen. Then they will listen even if they are not able to make perfect sense of your words. To your words, people listen later. The first thing that they listen to is your empathy. They want to see whether your face and your eyes carry their pains. If your eyes contain not a bit of the pain that they live in, they will not be able to listen to you.

अध्यात्म: अपने ही विरुद्ध संघर्ष

हम आमतौर पर बस ऐसे ही छवि बना लेते हैं कि संघर्ष या दबाव सिर्फ़ व्यवसाय में या सांसारिक मसलों में ही है। ऐसा बिल्कुल नहीं है। दबाव और संघर्ष अध्यात्म में भी उतने ही करने पड़ते हैं, जितने कि संसार में, बस उसकी श्रेणी, उसकी गुणवत्ता अलग है। बाहर तुम दबाव झेलते हो कुछ और अतिरिक्त हासिल कर लेने के लिए, और अध्यात्म में, जिसको तुमने नाहक पा लिया है, वह दबाव बनाता है कि मुझे मत छोड़ो। भीतर वाली लड़ाई जीत लो, बाहर की सब लड़ाइयाँ तुम पाओगे कि तुम्हारे लिए बहुत आसान हो गई हैं।

अपनी क़ाबलियत किसे बेच रहे हो?

तुम जिस भी क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्टता हासिल करने जाते हो और कर लेते हो, उस उत्कृष्टता की दुनिया तुरंत बोली लगानी शुरू कर देती है। इसीलिए तो दुनिया के जितने भी कॉम्पिटेंट लोग हैं, वह शैतान की सेवा में लगे हुए हैं। वह बोली ऊँची लगाता है और ढंग के कामों के लिए कॉम्पिटेंट लोग मिलने बहुत मुश्किल है। सारा खेल ही इसी बात का है कि कर क्या रहे हो? कितनी कुशलता से कर रहे हो, ये पीछे की बात है। आदमी ऐसा चाहिए, अर्जुन जैसा, कॉम्पिटेंट भी हो और कृष्ण के साथ भी है। तब फिर गीता बरसती है। तब आता है मज़ा।

What's The Right Action?

When I say, “I want the right action,” surely I have an image in mind. That image is coming from the past. But the right action, by definition, is one that cannot come from the past. Please remember that whenever something really right happens in life, it does not happen as a result of one’s decision. The really good, the right action, happens on its own, provided you do not become the decision-maker and the actor.

तुम कहीं गए, तुमने किसी की चरण स्पर्श कर लिए। यह कोई सम्मान है? यह आदर है। सम्मान दूसरी बात है। सम्मान का अर्थ होता है, ध्यान से समझना। जो अपने मन की समझ नहीं रख सकता, वह किसी और को कैसे समझ जाएगा? पर दावा हमारा यह है कि हम दूसरे का सम्मान करते हैं। दूसरे का सम्मान तो तब हो जब आत्म-सम्मान हो। आत्म-सम्मान मतलब खुद को समझना। पहले अपना सम्मान कर लो। अपना सम्मान मतलब, आत्म-ज्ञान! आत्म-ज्ञान ही आत्म-सम्मान है।

And this system, in the course of evolution, has now given birth to another system, which you call artificial intelligence. But calling it artificial is just vanity. We too are equally artificial. दार्शनिक बना नहीं जाता। ये कोई कैरियर थोड़ी होता है। ये तो ज़िंदगी बना देती है। पहले ज़िंदगी ऐसे जियो कि उसकी परतें उघड़ें कुछ, उसका नंगापन सामने आए। और उसके लिए ज़िंदगी के बहुत क़रीब आना पड़ता है। ज़िंदगी के क़रीब जाना माने झूठ अब टूटेगा। और झूठ साँस है, झूठ रीढ़ है, झूठ प्राण बन गया है हमारा। सब टूटेगा। ज़िंदगी को देखो। ज़िंदगी से लात खाओ फिर तुमसे जो कुछ भी अभिव्यक्त होगा, वह दर्शन होगा।

It becomes very difficult to explain to the other that, no, you cannot act selflessly, not because of you, but because you are Homo sapiens. Our species is not designed to act selflessly. किसी को समझाने की ज़िद?

आप कोई नहीं हैं, हर इंसान अपनी ही सहमति से सुधरेगा या गिरेगा। अब मेरा भी बीस वर्षों का अनुभव हुआ जा रहा है लोगों को समझाने का। बहुत-बहुत जान लगाई है लोगों पर, और धीरे-धीरे करके ये समझ में आया है कि एक अपराध होता है किसी ऐसे को समझाना, जो समझने के लिए बिल्कुल तैयार नहीं है। भूल नहीं होती, अपराध होता है। और उनसे ये फिर सुनने को मिलता है, 'हमें हमारे हिसाब से जीने क्यों नहीं दे रहे हो?' एक सीमा के बाद, वो गलती मत करिए जो मैंने करी है बहुत; एक सीमा के बाद प्रयास मत करिए।

Once you have given it all that you have, you will be left with very little time, space, or energy to bother about the result. “I gave everything that I had; now it is difficult to differentiate between defeat and victory.” Live so intensely that, in the end, you are left with no energy to be concerned with the result.

Why ‘Settling Down’ Is the Worst Thing You Can Do

You are given an image to pursue, and that image is a distant one, far off in the future. A villa of your own, two nice cars, two cute kids, a light-skinned wife, such things. That's the worst concept you can subscribe to in life: settling down. What does that mean? Not changing anymore, not improving further, not having the guts or the stamina to be disruptive anymore. We are very loveless people. All we care for is security, and that's why there is so little creativity and innovation here.

आपको क्या लगता है, यह जो अलग-अलग तरह के स्पोर्ट्स हैं, यह क्यों इतने प्रचलित हो गए? क्योंकि स्पोर्ट्स होगा तभी तो ऐड होगा। वह विज्ञापन बेचने का ज़रिया है और विज्ञापनदाता ऐसे नए-नए ज़रिए खोजते रहेंगे। चाहे वह विज्ञापन हो, चाहे बाबा जी की PR हो, चाहे आपको धार्मिक आधार पर भड़काने वाला कोई WhatsApp फ़ॉरवर्ड हो, वह सब बहुत केयरफुली क्राफ्टेड होते हैं। बहुत सतर्क रहा करिए, बहुत सतर्क; सब कुछ सिर्फ़ इसलिए है ताकि कोई आपसे अपना स्वार्थ सिद्ध कर सके।

If you are offering something to somebody without expecting much in return, then you'll never be afraid. Fear comes only from greed and desire. If your aim is to bring the Truth to the other without expecting anything or without expecting much, then you will never be afraid. Never.

The authentic one can never be harmed because he lives freely and without dependence. If someone can inflate you with their words, they can also deflate you. By accepting your identity from someone else, you have needlessly made yourself a beggar. The authentic person does not want anything from any external being. काम करना माने ये नहीं होता कि कोई महल बनाना है, कोई साम्राज्य खड़ा करना है, ये करना है, वो करना है। वास्तविक काम हमेशा नकारात्मक होगा। तो इसलिए उसको ढूँढना बहुत आसान है। आसपास अपने देखो, कहाँ कुछ ऐसा है जो नहीं होना चाहिए। सूँघो, कहाँ-कहाँ गंदगी फैली हुई है। हाथ में झाड़ू उठाओ, साफ़ कर दो; यही है काम। काम करके कुछ हासिल नहीं करना है। काम करके जो हासिल कर लिया है, उसको हटाना है।

Come pleasure, come pain, come attractions, come distractions, nothing matters to me, because now I have something extremely worthwhile in my life. One thing, one life, one love, one passion. Seeking External Validation: You Are a Bubble Blown by Society

Had you not been told what to do, would you have done even one of the things that you currently do? Think of it. If nobody tells you to take a particular kind of education or a particular career, would you still go in that stream? Very unlikely. Most of that which we want is something we have been ‘made to want.’ You are not even a puppet. You are a bubble — a bubble blown by society. Once you start looking directly at yourself, the need for external validation then reduces.

अचानक कोई दुविधा आ जाए तो क्या करें ?

होश में आओ और फिर होश को जाने मत दो, पानी जैसे हो जाओ। किसी पथरीले पहाड़ पर पानी की एक धार छोड़ो, देखो, वो कैसे अपना रास्ता तय करती है। पहाड़ है पथरीला, ऊबड़-खाबड़ चट्टानों से भरा हुआ, कहीं गड्ढा, कहीं कुछ और तुमने धार छोड़ी है। धार कहीं रुककर के विचार नहीं करती कि कौन सा मार्ग मेरे लिए ठीक है, कौन सा नहीं। उसे पता है किधर को जाना है। वो समर्पित है उस जगह पहुँच जाने को, जिसके बाद गति की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं रहेगी। नीचे कोई तालाब होगा, एक बार धार वहाँ तक पहुँच गयी, क्या उसके बाद भी बहती है?

भावनाओं से कर्मयोग तक

जो रोना-चिल्लाना हो रहा है, देख लो कि सब देह के कारण हैं। शरीर के हॉरमोन करवा रहे हैं। जान लो कि तुम उनके कर्ता नहीं हो — यह कर्मसंन्यास हो गया। दूसरा तरीका यह है कि यह सब किसी ऊँचे उद्देश्य को समर्पित कर दो; हँसेंगे तो उस ध्येय के लिए, रोएँगे तो उस ध्येय के लिए — यह कर्मयोग है। श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं — इन दोनों में कर्मयोग श्रेष्ठ है। तुम्हारी चित्त की तमाम वृत्तियों के साथ रिश्ता बड़ा गहरा है। तुम्हारे लिए उनसे संबंध तोड़ना मुश्किल हो जाएगा, इसीलिए कर्मयोग ज़्यादा आसान तरीका है।

क्या आप युवाओं का माइंड वॉश (Mind-Wash) कर रहे हैं?

तुम्हें लग रहा है बहुत क़ाबिल नौजवान घूम रहे हैं हिंदुस्तान में और इनको ब्रेन वॉश कर- कर के आचार्य जी बुला रहे हैं और फिर इनसे अपने लिए काम कराएँगे। अरे, ये निहायती घटिया नस्ल है। नस्ल भी घटिया, फ़सल भी घटिया। इनको यहाँ बुलाता हूँ तो इन पर बड़ी मेहनत करनी पड़ती है किसी लायक बने, और आधे तो उतनी मेहनत झेल भी नहीं पाते। वे बाहर निकल जाते हैं और फिर बाहर जाकर वीडियो बनाते हैं, “हमसे काम कराया, हम मर गए हैं। अरे, हमसे हुआ नहीं।”

Live Fully, Die Fully, and Then Come Alive Again and Again

Existence does not allow multi-tasking. It says, “One thing at a time.” Rule one is that whatever is happening, it must happen fully, 100%. Second thing is what is happening right now, must happen only right now. It should live in this moment, be fully alive, and then it should die. It should not carry forward into the next moment. The first formula is the rule of complete life and the second one is the rule of complete death and these two must go together.

ज़िंदगी में जब ऊँचाई के लिए आकर्षण आ जाता है, लगाव-झुकाव आ जाता है, जिसको हम इश्क़ बोल रहे हैं, वास्तविक प्रेम बोल रहे हैं, तो फिर मेहनत अपने आप हो जाती है। तो मेहनत बहुत ज़रूरी है, पर अंधी मेहनत हमें सिर्फ़ गधा बनाती है। अंधी मेहनत से बचो, पर मेहनत से मत बचो। मेहनत तो करनी पड़ेगी। पर मेहनत ऐसे ही मत करने लग जाना कि कहीं भी लग गए, मेहनत किए जा रहे हैं, किए जा रहे हैं, किए जा रहे हैं। नहीं-नहीं, ये मत करने लग जाना।

अध्यात्म में भाषा का क्या महत्त्व है?

भाषा बड़ी अनोखी चीज़ है। जो शब्द तुम बोलते हो, वो तुम बोलते ही भर नहीं हो, सुनते भी हो। जो पाठ, जाप, मंत्र, शब्द, भजन-कीर्तन इत्यादि करते हो, उससे बाहर की कोई सत्ता नहीं, जो तुमसे संतुष्ट या प्रसन्न हो जानी है। जो भी कुछ कह रहे हो, स्वयं को सुना रहे हो। जिसकी भाषा बदलने लग जाती है, उसका मन बदलने लग जाता है।

यह नेपाल की नहीं, हर देश की कहानी है। दुनिया भर में अनगिनत क्रांतियाँ होती रहती हैं और उनसे कुछ बदलाव भी आते हैं, पर उतने से आपका पेट नहीं भरेगा। बाहरी बदलाव सदा आकर्षक लगता है, लेकिन उसके परिणाम या तो शून्य होंगे या आंशिक। क्रांति सदा भीतर से शुरू होनी चाहिए। एक जगा हुआ आदमी सबसे बड़ी क्रांति होता है। जब भीतरी आज़ादी नहीं होती तो बाहर भी आज़ादी का दुरुपयोग ही होता है। ज़बरदस्त क्रांतियाँ हों, लेकिन ठोस आधार पर और ऊँचे लक्ष्यों के लिए हों।
