Speaker: Gloss is what is perceivable to the senses. Gloss is your actions, your appearance, your voice, everything. Core is the essence from which all your actions arise. Core and Gloss are inseparable; they are not at all two different entities. I do not know how you are carrying the conception that there is a Core and there is Gloss. Core and Gloss are one, just as mind and body are one. Mind is to body is, what Core is to Gloss. We said that when the mind is afraid, the body starts shivering. Now, you cannot see the fear of the mind, but you can see the shivering of the body. That is the only difference between Core and Gloss.
Core cannot be seen through the senses, Gloss can be seen through the senses, but Core and Gloss are one and the same thing. When Core becomes apparent, it becomes Gloss; when Gloss goes to its roots, it’s called Core. They are not different at all. What is different from these two is something called mask, the unreal, the fake, the personality , like the fake smile, like the lip gloss, like the fake eye-brows, like fake accents, like plastic surgery, like fake words; this is mask. This is not coming from the core, this is artificial. Core and Gloss are one. Gloss is the healthy expression of the Core but that expression does not always take place. That expression takes place only in an environment of attention, that expression takes place only when the mind is innocent, not cunning. When the mind is cunning, then instead of the healthy and natural gloss, you put on a fake mask.
So, the second part of your question, ‘how to remove the gloss?’, anyways is invalidated. How can you remove the gloss? It’s like asking. ‘how to remove the brightness of the Sun?’ Till the day the Sun has core of burning helium, the brightness will be there. You cannot remove it and it is great that you cannot remove it. It is great that all of us have a natural gloss. It is great that a healthy girl will have naturally beautiful eyes and will not have to use eye-gloss. It’s great that a healthy young man will have a naturally good body and will not need artificial props.
If you are internally healthy and sound, then that shows up in your life, in every action, in every word that you utter, in your every step, that is called Gloss. If my mind has clarity, then I walk with a particular sureness; this is Gloss. Gloss is not deception, Gloss is not external, not artificial. Mask is artificial and you do not need mask. Nobody needs a mask. When the tree is healthy, the leaves shine. Or do you need to apply some polish on the leaves? Do you need to do that? When the plant is healthy, the flower has beautiful fragrance; or do you need to go and spray some deodorant on the rose flower? It is only when you have a fake flower, that you need to give it an artificial scent, otherwise, a naturally healthy flower will have a natural scent of its own. Gloss is good, provided it is real, provided it’s not a made up fake gloss.
There is nothing wrong with the Gloss. You all have gloss and it’s wonderful that you all have Gloss. That is what the real beauty is; the expression of your Core. Whenever the core finds expression, it is always beautiful, always beautiful. The core can find expression in the works of a scientist, in the paintings of a painter, in the dance of a dancer, all these are Gloss, all these are manifestations of the Core. Why do you want to remove the Gloss? Why? If you are healthy, won’t your face shine? Yes, it would. And if your liver is damaged, if your kidney is damaged and if you have a heart problem, what would your face look like? Sullen, telling the entire story of your disease and then you will need make-up. Now, do you need to do makeup or do you need to take care of the liver and the kidney? How long can make-up help you? Your liver is rotten, your kidney is rotten, your brain is rotten. Go and take care of the real thing. But, we are so bothered about shining the face. The face will shine on its own. Core will give you sufficient Gloss, beautiful Gloss. Take care of the Core.
