अगर पीने से तुमको समाधि मिलती होती तो मैं बिल्कुल नहीं मना करता पीने से। तो समस्या पीने में नहीं है। बात ये है कि जब पी रहे हो तो समाधि से और दूर होते जा रहे हो। जब पी रहे हो तो जो तुम्हें वास्तव में चाहिए उससे और दूर होते जा रहे हो। पीने में ये बुराई है। कोई आकर के अगर सिद्ध कर दे कि पीने से उसे परमात्मा मिलता है तो मैं कहूँगा, ‘तू अब पानी भी मत पी, सिर्फ़ शराब पी।’ कसौटी शराब नहीं है, कसौटी परमात्मा हैं। पर उसका तो तुम नाम ही नहीं ले रहे।
