Manisha, look at the sentence that closes this: if someone benefits, good, if not, it continues just for its own sake. That reads like renunciation of an audience, but check what actually happened. The ego didn't stop wanting to matter to others. It just found a version of learning where it can never again be told no one is listening, because it no longer asks. Withdrawing the offer isn't the same as no longer needing it received. Where in your own learning right now could you actually ask a question, out loud, to someone who might not approve, instead of settling the account privately in advance?
