For rural women it was 47.6%, and for urban women only 28.0%. This fact is really disappointing. Living in urban area means your educated and you have more opportunities compared to rual areas. This indicates lack of women participation in workforce is not due to lack of opportunities but because of choosing wrong life. Women are happily choosing their cage.
Anuradha, notice the word you just used, choosing. A cage someone is happy in and calls chosen is usually the one nobody had to lock, because the walls were built into her before she knew there was an outside. Convenient in-laws, family pressure to leave a job after marriage, unpaid care work that never shows up as a real alternative, that's not a competing option freely weighed against a career. Calling that a wrong choice quietly hands all the responsibility to the very people with the least room to choose, and lets everything upstream of her decision off the hook entirely.
