Description

Acharya Prashant observes that the current emphasis on skill development has alienated children from literature and wisdom. He explains that India's history of extreme poverty and famines has made financial security the ultimate goal. Consequently, education is viewed solely as a means to earn money. Professional fields like engineering and medicine are valued not for the knowledge they provide, but for their earning potential. This mindset reflects a hungry man's perspective, where choices are driven by the pursuit of wealth rather than genuine interest or passion. He further argues that India has become a nation of glorified mechanics rather than scientists. While people are willing to become practitioners for immediate financial gain, there is a significant lack of interest in research and innovation because these paths do not guarantee quick returns. This obsession with money extends to all aspects of life; happiness is only felt when an event is linked to financial profit, such as a son's birth for potential dowry or high grades for future salaries. Even national milestones like space exploration are celebrated as displays of status and wealth rather than for their scientific or technological significance. Regarding the state of languages, Acharya Prashant notes that while the number of Hindi speakers may be increasing due to population growth, the quality of the language is suffering. There is a lack of new literary creation, and many people prefer using the Roman script over the native script. He concludes that while seeking survival was necessary in the past, the current drive is fueled by blind desire and greed, leading to the neglect of arts, knowledge, and cultural heritage.
