Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the human mind is fundamentally an entity at odds with its own real interests. While its ultimate destiny and deepest desire is liberation, it is habitually drawn toward bondages, illusions, and sensory distractions like pomp, sexuality, and the display of riches. He notes that the mind requires deliberate effort and discipline to rise toward knowledge, yet it slips easily into falseness and the craving for social attention. This inherent tendency to seek validation and avoid truth is what drives our interaction with modern technology. Social media acts as a magnifying glass for these lowly human tendencies. Acharya Prashant points out that because mischief and falseness are contagious and require little effort to spread, they propagate like wildfire on digital platforms. In contrast, spreading truth and sublime values requires immense patience and discipline. Consequently, social media has been turned into a servant of our worst inclinations, where anonymity and the sheer volume of users make traditional regulation or legislation impractical and impossible. The platform rewards nonsense with instant recognition and financial gain, a formula now exploited by individuals, corporations, and politicians alike. He concludes that the only practical solution to this crisis is individual responsibility rooted in spirituality and self-inquiry. Since external regulation cannot control the subjective nature of mischief, there must be a cultural shift toward internal discipline. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that Vedanta and core self-inquiry must become part of mainstream education, moving beyond mere career building. He describes the current state of humanity as a historical emergency, asserting that awakening the individual is no longer just an ideal but a necessary 'do or die' requirement to avoid a global catastrophe.
