Description

In response to a student's distress over the last-minute postponement of her NEET PG exam, Acharya Prashant explains that life is not specifically targeting her or the student community. He points out that the existence of an entrance exam implies there are good institutions worth gaining entrance to, which the nation has raised. This shows that the country does not want its students to suffer. India has some of the best medical institutions in Asia, which one can be proud of, but it is a natural human tendency to take the available for granted and be disturbed when things do not go our way. Acharya Prashant states that while the authorities and the system should be questioned and held accountable for their failures, for the purpose of the individual's peace, blaming them is pointless. He emphasizes that life is unpredictable and will never move according to one's plans and expectations. Systems will fail, and this is not specific to India but happens even in the most advanced nations. The crucial lesson is to develop oneself internally to remain steadfast when things go wrong. He advises against allowing external events to rule one's mind, get to you, own you, or make you go mad. The solution is to cultivate an inner fortress, a separate identity that is inaccessible to the world. This inner core, or heart, must be a sacred place that remains untouched by the world's happenings, whether good or bad. While it is natural to feel happy or sad, these emotions should not be allowed to penetrate this core. One can allow oneself to feel these emotions for a limited time—a few hours or a couple of days—but must then return to their essential peace. The goal is to not let happiness carry you away or sadness break you down, but to be able to say, "It's alright," and remain internally joyful and steadfast.
