Description

Acharya Prashant clarifies the distinction between Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and true intelligence. He explains that IQ is merely a skill-based measure of numerical ability, verbal ability, and memory, which can be useful for practical tasks or becoming a scientist, but it does not represent real intelligence. True intelligence, according to him, is the capacity to be a witness or an observer (Sakshi). It is the ability to step back from an event or a thought and observe it without becoming entangled or engaged. Unlike IQ, which is a continuous variable that can range from zero to two hundred, true intelligence is binary; it is either present or absent, represented as zero or one. He emphasizes that one is either in a state of meditation and clarity or lost in thoughts, with no intermediate stage. This intelligence cannot be measured by tests because it is about being a complete human being through the power of observation and attention.
