In response to a question about leaving a conventional career for spirituality, Acharya Prashant explains that he found this work to be far more important than anything else one can do, whether as a person or as a professional like an engineer or a manager. He describes this path as tremendously more important, not just for himself, but for everybody and for the world. He states that the decision to pursue this was very natural, obvious, gradual, and irreversible. Acharya Prashant connects his decision to the purpose of higher education. He posits that the purpose of education is to liberate and to set the individual free. Therefore, he finds it natural that if one receives education from reputable institutions of quality, that education should enable the individual to chart an even more free path. He argues that education cannot become something that limits or sends people only in predetermined directions. He concludes by stating that he had his calling and the guidance of the Heart. All that his formal education could give him was subsequently used in service of that which was calling and that which was important. This, he explains, is what happened.
