Acharya Prashant explains that when you are really helpless, there is no suffering left. To be really helpless is to be with an undivided consciousness, a consciousness with no choices or options. He states that suffering is not a result of helplessness, but a result of dishonesty. Using the analogy of a corpse, he illustrates that a corpse is helpless but does not suffer, regardless of what is done to it. This, he says, is true helplessness, and it does not complain or suffer. If there is actual helplessness, it is the actual end of all suffering. The speaker argues that when people claim to be helpless while experiencing suffering, pride, greed, pain, and evil, they are not truly helpless. Instead, he posits that they are suffering because of their guilt. Guilt is defined as knowing you are the culprit, doing something wrong, and being aware of it. If something happens inadvertently without one's involvement, there is no guilt. Guilt arises when, with your consciousness and approval, you allow evil to happen or even abet it. All suffering is guilt, and you cannot suffer without being guilty. Existence is not unjust; if you find yourself suffering, know that you are guilty, and willingly so. He elaborates that there is always something one can do or stop doing, but choosing not to act makes one guilty. This guilt, which he terms the "guilty consciousness," gnaws at the mind, making it impossible to pardon oneself. Even in utterly woeful and hopeless situations, if one does what they are capable of doing, there would be no time or opportunity to despair. The more adverse a situation is, the less time it leaves for despair, as all energy is consumed in responding to it. If one is fighting an easy battle, they might find time to despair, but in an overwhelming situation, there is no time to suffer. If you do the utmost that you must do in any situation, you will find the joy of right action. Wails and tears are for those who are guilty of abdicating their responsibility. If you are fulfilling your responsibility, it will consume you fully, extracting the last bit of energy. If you manage to shed tears, it only means you are a thief who has stolen some energy and reserved it for weeping and tears.
