Acharya Prashant explains that images and stories of spiritual figures like Shri Krishna or Jesus Christ were originally provided as a noble solution to counter the harmful and random images already filling the human mind. Because the human mind is obstinate and obsessed with thoughts, myths, and imagery, well-wishers provided pristine images to help rid the mind of miscellaneous distractions. Ideally, an image should dissolve once it has served its purpose, but practically, the tendency to imagine remains. Therefore, staying with a pure image can act as a necessary protection against worldly influences and bodily tendencies that might otherwise lead one back to old mental diseases.
