Description

Acharya Prashant explains that people typically choose a career by looking at the economy to see which sectors offer jobs and financial security. They select the most profitable and convenient option from the pre-existing choices, ensuring a steady income. This is the easy path of looking outside to decide what to do, where one is assured of getting something to eat. A well-organized job is always ready for them. The second, more authentic but inconvenient path, involves looking inward at one's own mind and personality, and outward at the world, to determine what work is truly necessary. Here, the criterion for choosing work shifts from availability to necessity. This necessary work may not have a pre-existing job or an established economic sector. This creates an imbalance: where jobs are available, the work often feels unnecessary, and where the work is necessary, jobs are not available. To pursue what is necessary, one must create their own work, becoming an entrepreneur. This is a path of responsibility and effort, not comfort, but it brings the supreme satisfaction of doing what is essential, which is the essence of Dharma and spirituality. This path is for those with less greed and an independent temperament, who are not bound by the need for a fixed income or the pressure of expenses. Those compelled by circumstances or greed are forced to do work they don't love, for which they demand high compensation for their ruined lives. Money can be either compensation for slavery or a blessed offering (prasad) for doing what you love. When you do the work you love, freedom is the real reward, and money is just a bonus. The energy for entrepreneurship comes from 'takleef' (pain/trouble). The ego avoids the real, deep pain by focusing on trivial ones. Once you face the real pain, your life transforms. Entrepreneurship is born from a strong intention, which is more important than skills, knowledge, or even a high degree of education.
