Description

Acharya Prashant explains that you cannot win, cater to, or control the mind. You are not responsible for everything that this ancient mind does. He describes the mind as an enormous crowd, containing a thousand squirrels, five hundred monkeys, extinct dinosaurs, and all the men and women of the world, living, dead, and yet to come. All of these are sitting in the mind, playing their mischief and raising a huge uproar, which he calls a strange chorus. The entire universe is contained within your seemingly little mind. Instead of trying to control this chaos, the speaker advises to let them do their mischief and for you to follow your dharma, to be with the real one. He clarifies that you do not need to know what the real one is; all you need to know is that you are not all that which keeps bubbling in your mind. Being with God means nothing more than being able to not identify with the noise in your head. Without God, this would not be possible, so if you are not identifying, you are already with God. He states that there is no secret in the mind, only complexities, and you get nothing by solving them. It is an endless maze and a huge puzzle. Trying to control, shut down, or understand the mind is of very little value. The mind has its own universe and a parallel life of its own, carrying the accumulated residue of an infinity of time. All of that has to run its course and burn itself out. While the mind is cleaning itself up in its natural course, you should stay a little aloof. He concludes by saying to let the dinosaur live its life. The mind contains snakes, rabbits afraid of wolves, world wars being fought, old men, and little kids. Sometimes, the old men will come up with very wise suggestions. You should listen to what they have to say, smile, and then walk past them. It is their job to talk you up or talk you in, and it is your job to just keep flowing silently.
