Description

Acharya Prashant explains that a grand purpose or a significant goal is not discovered while one remains in a state of unconsciousness or inactivity. He uses the analogy of a person sleeping soundly in a room while the entire neighborhood is engulfed in flames. Initially, the person is unaware of the danger, perhaps only sensing a bit of heat or the smell of smoke, which they dismiss as a minor domestic occurrence. In this state of ignorance, the magnitude of the situation is completely hidden. The speaker notes that most people live their entire lives in this state of unconsciousness, eventually being consumed by the metaphorical fire of existence without ever realizing the gravity of their situation. The process of finding a great goal begins with taking a small step based on what is currently visible. As the person moves from their bed to the next room, they encounter more smoke and flames, which begins to dissipate their unconsciousness. Upon stepping outside and seeing the fire everywhere, they become fully awake and realize the immense challenge of liberation. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that the seriousness and depth of a goal reveal themselves only through the journey itself. One cannot expect a grand mission to be handed to them while they remain idle; instead, one must start with the immediate task at hand, and through that action, the true, vast nature of the ultimate goal will gradually be unveiled.
