Acharya Prashant explains that while enemies in the past were identifiable individuals or systems like Ravan or Kansa, modern man has conquered the external world, including nature, space, and disease. Today, man possesses unprecedented power over his surroundings, effectively becoming a material God. Consequently, external threats that once troubled humanity have been turned into useful servants or eliminated through technological and intellectual advancement. He points out that in the age of democracy and global surveillance, traditional villains and dictators can no longer exist as they once did. Instead, the real enemy has shifted from the external world to the internal. The modern Ravan is man himself—specifically, man’s irrepressible desire coupled with a powerful intellect but devoid of self-knowledge or love. This combination makes modern man a deadly god who pursues happiness and consumption at the cost of everything else. Acharya Prashant argues that desire has ironically defeated many social evils like untouchability and war, not through moral reform, but through utility and greed. People cooperate because it is economically beneficial, not because they have discovered spiritual oneness. He warns that we are entering a loveless age where humans will become highly capable supermen who are intellectually brilliant but spiritually hollow, having lost the capacity for true yearning, silence, and love. Finally, he emphasizes that the modern struggle is far more difficult than the battles of the past. In ancient times, the lines between good and evil were clear. Today, the cult of Kansa is everywhere—within our families, our relationships, and ourselves. The ultimate challenge is to fight the influence of a world driven by desire and to rediscover the essential qualities of love and silence in an increasingly mechanical and prosperous civilization.
