Acharya Prashant explains that humans often deliberately choose imperfection and mediocrity to protect their own flaws. Using the analogy of a cricket captain who excludes superior bowlers to secure his own position, he illustrates how we avoid excellence because it demands personal transformation. We fear greatness and progress because of the price they extract—the dissolution of our current, inferior selves. This self-sabotage is often a semi-conscious conspiracy against our own potential, where we prefer the comfort of the second-rate over the challenge of the best.
