Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the question of how to achieve success in whatever one does. He explains that success does not lie in doing any random thing. The most important, and perhaps the only, thing is to first know what is worthy enough to be done. The game is not about picking an arbitrary task and then investing oneself fully to be successful in it. The crucial question is whether you know why you are doing a certain thing and if it is truly worthy of being done. True success, according to the speaker, lies in choosing the right thing to do. In that choice itself lies immediate success. This means one does not have to wait for the outcome to determine success. If you have to wait for the outcome, you are already unsuccessful. Victory is found in the moment of the choice itself. It is about choosing the right option, making the right decision, and fighting the right battle. Once the right choice is made, it doesn't matter whether you win or lose in the conventional sense, because you are already victorious. The speaker further clarifies that the real battle is not in the attainment of the goal, but in the determination of the goal. One must know what goal they are picking for themselves and why. If you fight the wrong battle, even victory is worse than defeat. Similarly, there is no point in speeding down the wrong road. To make the right decision, one must first know their real, inner need. This self-knowledge, knowing who you are when not defined by others or ruled by your animal body, is what must guide your decisions. Once you know what you really need, the right decision becomes clear, and in living by that decision, you find success, irrespective of the future's peripheral outcomes.
