Description

Acharya Prashant explains that people labor extremely hard for frivolous things, such as collecting the world's finest furniture, ensuring a car has no scratches, or keeping a face wrinkle-free. He points out that there is another place that deserves all this effort, but it remains unanswered, unoccupied, and starved. The call from this right direction is ignored, while all effort is invested in trivial matters. This misdirection of energy is a blind loop in which one does not see how they are sinking and losing their precious resources. Megatons of energy are lost in thoughts of revenge, interpersonal conflicts, and other trivialities. The speaker laments that we are all bleeding and fighting tirelessly, but it is the wrong battle. The wounds, blood, sweat, and tiredness are real, yet the battle is wrong. He questions the intelligence of investing so much excitement, energy, determination, and absolute dedication into the wrong cause, which he terms nonsense. He suggests that if even a quarter of this blind and destructive energy could flow toward the right direction, one's life would change in unimaginable ways. The Giver is magnanimous and would make do with even a fraction of one's energy if a small signal is given that one truly wants liberation. He urges the listener to have mercy upon themselves and learn to ignore and bypass the small issues. The key is to learn to ignore the small for the big. Every time one ignores something small for the sake of something big, it is a step forward. Conversely, every time one chooses the little and abstains from the big, they have harmed themselves one more time.
