Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the need for confidence is a certain sign of fear. He argues that confidence is merely a cover-up used to tackle underlying insecurities. When one is in a natural, relaxed state—such as when speaking with a parent—confidence is not required. It only becomes necessary when one is afraid of losing something, such as a self-image or the approval of others. He suggests that instead of building confidence, one should focus on eliminating fear by realizing that most possessions, beliefs, and self-images are borrowed from the outside and can therefore be taken away. By finding what is truly one's own and not dependent on others' opinions, fear naturally vanishes, making confidence redundant.
