Acharya Prashant addresses the pervasive issue of misinformation on social media, arguing that the consumer of misinformation is not a victim but its primary author. He explains that misinformation spreads because people actively seek out lies that validate their ego and personal biases. He distinguishes between misinformation, which can be accidental, and disinformation, which is a deliberate manipulation driven by bad intentions. He asserts that the ego inherently fears facts because facts lead to the dissolution of the ego, whereas lies provide a false sense of security and validation for one's beliefs and identity.
