Acharya Prashant explains that human existence is fundamentally characterized by a state of seeking and desire. He distinguishes between the 'normal' person who claims to know exactly what they want and the spiritual seeker who has the humility to admit they do not know what they are seeking. This second state is an advancement because it acknowledges that previous desires have not brought lasting satisfaction. He posits that to be human is to be born as a search, and this search is rooted in consciousness. Consciousness creates a sense of separation between the self and the world, leading to an inner feeling of incompletion. Because we perceive ourselves as small, limited units in a vast universe, we naturally look outward to the world to find fulfillment.
