Acharya Prashant explains that the relationship between a Guru and a disciple transcends the physical plane. While ordinary cleaning involves a washerman, cloth, and water existing on the same material level, the spiritual process is different. In the spiritual context, the mind itself is the filth. This filth is the false identification with the physical body, social roles, and personal history. Because the mind is composed of this filth, when the filth is removed through spiritual practice, the mind as we know it also ceases to exist. Unlike a cloth that remains after being washed, when the mind is purified, only an infinite light remains.
