Acharya Prashant explains that the brain is a product of evolution and time, lacking an inherent sense of identity. To function, it must answer the question of who it is by searching for an identity within time. Because the brain is essentially time, it identifies with whatever it spends a long period of time with. This process, where the brain merges its sense of 'I am' with an object, person, or thought it has been close to, is defined as attachment. Consequently, one becomes attached to their body, family, house, or even a hairstyle simply because of the duration of association.
