Description

Acharya Prashant explains that despite its vast diversity, India has remained united for over 70 years since its independence. This unity, he posits, must be rooted in a shared ideal, common beliefs, and collective values. For a nation to endure, its foundational values must be of the highest order; otherwise, it risks disintegration. He references the famous line, "There is something about us that our existence does not get erased," to highlight India's resilience. While the political map of the country (Desh) has frequently changed and fragmented, the nation (Rashtra) of India has remained largely intact and undivided. The reason for this enduring national identity, according to the speaker, is the presence of shared and high spiritual values. He emphasizes that both conditions—being shared and being high—are crucial. The country of India is the political expression of these spiritual values. The nation of India (Bharat Rashtra) has these spiritual values at its core, which is why they have persisted for the last twenty centuries. Therefore, the country of India (Bharat Desh) should not be seen as a mere political entity but as the political manifestation of these profound spiritual values, making it venerable. To ensure the persistence of these spiritual values, the existence of the country of India as a political power is essential. The speaker uses the analogy of the body and soul, where the country is the body and the nation with its high values is the soul. Without the body, the soul cannot be expressed. He quotes Kabir Saheb, who said that while the soul is everywhere, the body in which it manifests is rare and wonderful. Similarly, the country of India is the vehicle for these higher values. Consequently, protecting the country is of utmost importance, and the sentinels who guard its borders—the army and its soldiers—are deserving of respect and honor.
