Description

Acharya Prashant explains that according to the Ashtavakra Gita, even if the highest instructors like Shri Shiva, Shri Vishnu, or Shri Brahma were to teach you, abidance in the self is impossible unless you forget everything. The guru's entire effort is to rid the student of their unnecessary self, yet the student often uses the guru's words to protect and extend that very self. This creates a state of war where the student uses the medicine meant for healing to exacerbate their own disease. Ultimately, the student decides whether they will benefit, as even the Lords cannot help someone who is unwilling to let go of their smartness, self-belief, and stubbornness.
