Description

Acharya Prashant explains a verse from the Shreemad Bhagvad Gita (Chapter 4, Verse 11), where Shri Krishna says, "According to the manner in which they approach Me, I favor them in that very manner. O son of Pritha, human beings follow my path in every way." The speaker clarifies that Shri Krishna is saying you will get back exactly what you have chosen. He quotes Shri Krishna, "I look at them exactly as they look at me." Using an example, he states that if shallowness is your truth, then your life will be shallow. This is not a matter of fate or what's in your horoscope, but a matter of your choice. If you look at your daily choices and see that you are choosing shallowness at every step, then Shri Krishna says, "Fine, if shallowness is what you want, shallow shall be your life." This, the speaker explains, is the import of the verse. Shri Krishna will not impose himself on anyone; you are free to look at him the way you want to. Even Maya (illusion) is his own creation. So, if instead of him, you want to keep yourself busy with his Maya, he will not interfere. It is your choice. You had the option to be with Krishna or to wallow in Maya; if it's Maya that you chose, you will get Maya. This is also the law of Karma Phal (the fruit of action). You have the choice in all matters of your life, and nobody can take away your power to choose. However, having chosen, you have no choice in choosing the results. Shri Krishna is saying, "You looked at me in one way, right? Now I'll look back at you in the same way." If you ignored Krishna all your life, you should not be aghast that Krishna ignores you. If you cry out, "Oh God, why have you forgotten me?" the reply will be, "Who started it?" The speaker concludes by paraphrasing Shri Krishna's commitment: "I'll treat you in the same way as you treat me. You forget me, I'll forget you. You remember me, I'll remember you. You honor me, I'll honor you. You dishonor me, life will dishonor you."
