Acharya Prashant explains that the 'first home' mentioned by Bulleh Shah refers to the source from which we originate—the state of being before division, separation, and turning away. It is the place beyond time and space that Kabir Saheb also identifies as our true home. We are described as being exiled or rejected from this home because we can no longer perceive the Divine in the various 'homes' or attachments we have created for ourselves. These multiple homes are places where we falsely claim to find rest and belonging, but they are actually sources of confusion and disturbance. True freedom from enmity and malice is only possible in that original state; as long as we cling to these secondary homes, we remain divided, fearful, and violent.
