Vitamin B15
Description

Acharya Prashant explains that Vitamin B12 is not produced by animals themselves but by bacteria found in the intestines of various animals, including humans, and in the soil. Although humans have these bacteria, the B12 produced in the human gut is created too low in the intestines to be absorbed and is instead excreted. In nature, animals obtain B12 by consuming grass and fruits that have traces of soil containing these bacteria. Unlike humans, animals do not wash or chemically treat their food, allowing them to ingest the vitamin naturally from the earth. He explains that modern humans suffer from B12 deficiency because of two main reasons: the use of chemicals and fertilizers in farming has killed the B12-producing bacteria in the soil, and the rigorous cleaning and processing of food remove any remaining traces. He refutes the argument that nature intends for humans to eat meat to obtain B12, noting that the animals people eat get their B12 from the very soil that provides human crops. The speaker emphasizes that nature had a system for humans to get B12 from plants and soil, but human civilization has destroyed that natural cycle through chemical intervention and excessive processing. Acharya Prashant addresses the hypocrisy of those who refuse B12 or B15 supplements by calling them artificial. He points out that people readily accept artificial interventions like vaccines, medicines, and other supplements like Calcium or Iron when it serves their own health. However, they hesitate to take a B12 supplement because its primary benefit is saving the lives of animals rather than just their own. He encourages the use of vegan supplements, asserting that if one's lifestyle—including clothes and glasses—is already man-made, there is no reason to reject a supplement that prevents animal slaughter.
