Acharya Prashant explains that deep down, the mind knows what it wants and will not settle for anything less than that. He states that people try to trick their minds, to talk them into settling for far less than what they deserve. However, the part of you that is talking is a very shallow piece of the mind. The mind itself is bigger and far deeper than the one trying to channel its energy towards a particular goal. Consequently, the mind will not oblige or cooperate with these attempts. It will stubbornly refuse because it is looking for something bigger than even itself; it will not settle for anything less than the infinite. The speaker uses the analogy of trying to convince a thirsty elephant to buy a coke can. While the coke can might suffice for the person, the thirsty elephant knows the can is too small for its size and will not be duped. You cannot take the elephant for a stupid ride. What the elephant truly needs is the entire ocean. The speaker points out the futility of wondering why the mind doesn't cooperate when what is being offered is so puny. He advises offering something that is worthy of being offered. When you set a goal that is large enough, you will find that your dormant powers awaken. That within you which is large enough to achieve that goal will awaken.
