When we hear about sexual violence against women, our immediate reaction is often to assign blame—be it to the individual perpetrator, systemic failures, or cultural norms. While these perspectives are valid, they may overlook a crucial aspect: the need to examine our collective mindset and animalistic tendencies.
No one is born with the intent to harm others. Yes the animalistic tendencies are there but these are more often shaped by their surroundings and experiences. Consider the constant exposure to certain media narratives, the normalization of misogynistic lyrics in music, or the objectification prevalent in various forms of entertainment.
These elements, knowingly or unknowingly, desensitizes individuals to the seriousness of sexual misconduct. Think of what he sees, think of what he sees on the internet, things of the songs he hears, think of the movies he watches; all these things continuously making him mentally sick everyday.
Also, it is not about the danger lurking outside but inside the house. Yes we are talking about marital rape. The normalization of such crimes in society, where a husband’s involvement in the sexual exploitation of his wife is not viewed as shocking, as it reflects a broader pattern in which women’s bodies are commodified.
This video series aims to go beyond surface-level analyses and delve into the complex factors—such as societal conditioning and psychological influences—that perpetuate sexual abuse against women.
