Namaste, and welcome to the first video series of Women's Liberation, "Breaking Free from Body Identification." Before we delve into the core themes of this series, let's reflect on some fundamental questions: Have you ever come across the phrase, "I am not the body," in spiritual texts or teachings?
What is the true nature of this body?
Where does it originate, and what is its ultimate destiny?
Understanding these questions is crucial, especially for women. In India, over 80% of women still do not earn independently and remain dependent on others. In such a societal framework, a woman often becomes identified solely with her body, particularly if she lacks access to power, skills, or opportunities.
Imagine, if a woman lacks strength, skills, and virtues, she becomes merely a decorated doll. Because we are not just the body; we are consciousness as well. If we do not understand life deeply, then with external adornments, our bodies may become beautiful, but our intellect will be in a miserable state. We need to have something of value in our life. When we do not have value within, then we want to put artificial value upon ourself, as a compensation. Outward colourfulness can fool into thinking that we might be inwardly colourful, as well. But only we know the reality of our life.
This series aims to explore these profound questions and shed light on the deeper aspects of self-identity and liberation. Hope, you understand the nuances of body and ego and help others too in transforming their life. If this series has helped you, please share with others too.
