सभि जीअ तुमारे जी तूं जीआ का दातारा
नितनेम (रहरासि साहिब)
All living beings are Yours. You are the Giver of all souls.
Nitnem (Rahraasi Saahib)
Speaker: “Sabhi jeea tumaare jee tuun jeea ka daataara (All living beings are Yours. You are the Giver of all souls).”
The question is: He is the ultimate giver, but how to understand giving where ‘I’ does not exist?
‘I’ does exist. ‘I’ does exist. He is the Giver of both. He is the giver of ‘I’, and the freedom from ‘I’. He gives both. From Him comes this entire game of illusion, and from Him comes the possibility of redemption.
That is why there is no need to feel responsible for your deluded state. You did not do it. There is no need to feel ashamed about slipping. You did not do it. ‘He’ is the Giver of all. ‘He’ gave it to you.
There is a great doer-ship, or ownership, in a sense of shame or guilt. You did not do it. The day you feel ashamed, is also the day you feel empowered, emboldened, to redeem yourself. That is also the moment when you feel that you can be the agent of your liberation. So shame only reinforces your ego. Otherwise, how will you feel ashamed?
What do you keep feeling? You keep feeling that, “Oh my god! How did I do this? I am such a great man. How could I slip?” That is how you feel ashamed, right? And when feel that you are a great man, then you also feel that, “I can correct the mistakes, because I am a great man.”
Don’t feel ashamed. Just see that this is what you ‘are’. “This is what I am” – without any inhibition, without any ownership. ‘He’ is the Giver all, ‘He’ did it.
Obviously this is not meant to be used as an escape tool that you continue doing what you want to do, and then you say, “He did it.” Remember: If He did it, then He would suffer. But obviously, who suffers? You. Don’t try to act too clever.
“He is the Giver of all.”
The way this land looks at it, is – He is Brahma, from whom the creation comes; Prabhav . He is Vishnu, who maintains the order. And then he is Shiva, who dissolves everything; Pralay . So, from Prabhav to Pralay , He did it. And He is continuously doing it; all the time. You need not feel responsible. It’s okay.
Freedom from ownership, freedom from shame, and freedom from ego – they all go together .
You have nothing to own, except your shame. Whenever you will own, you will also feel ashamed, because what else is there in life, except thoughts and actions to be ashamed of. There is no man, who is not ashamed of himself. If all your deeds, and thoughts, were to be written in a book, would you like to take ownership of that book?
(Laughter)
You are ashamed of yourself, aren’t you? That’s what life is. Forget the entire life, just the last twenty-four hours. If every single thought, and action of yours, were to put down in a book, what would you get, except shame? Our life is nothing, but shame. Disown this life. Just disown it. You didn’t do it.
Wherever there is ownership, there would be shame. Whatever you can own, would be a cause of shame for you. And there is no object that would not bring shame to you. The ego is mired in guilt, and it thrives in guilt. And from this sense of guilt, comes this desire of betterment.
“Let me improve myself. Let me get a glorious future. Let me try to achieve something.” The entire game of ambition, originates from this ‘guilt’. So do you see that how these are connected?
Freedom from ownership is also then, freedom from future, because freedom from ownership is also freedom from ambition.
