1. 50 words in Vedanta that point towards Truth Atma, Brahman, truth, chaitanya, consciousness, witness, non-duality, self-knowledge, Brahman-knowledge, self-realization, Brahman-realization, bliss, peace, completeness, infinite, unbroken, eternal, pure, free, immortal, indestructible, unborn, unattached, without attributes, formless, unconditional, changeless, incomparable, turiya, liberation, freedom, nirvana, oneness, Paramatma, supreme truth, नेति-नेति, अहं ब्रह्मास्मि, तत्त्वमसि, sat, self-luminous, without ego, without desire, free of bondage, free of fear, freedom, discernment, dispassion, compassion, love, emptiness. Some of these words are positive—like bliss, peace, completeness, love. While some point towards truth through negation—like unattached, without attributes, formless, and नेति-नेति. From this I understood that, more than attaining truth as if it were some object, what really matters is to recognize and drop the false notions within. 2. My personal situation Right now I am in a relationship where talking to her makes me happy and I’ve started to care about her. But at the same time, there is an expectation in me that she should understand me, understand my feelings, and stay close to me. I don’t want to bind her, nor do I want to have any claim over her. Yet when there is distance from her, my mind becomes restless and I go back towards her again. Now I’m beginning to see a bit of the difference between love and attachment. Love: She remains free and happy in her own way, whether she is close to me or not. Attachment: I don’t want to bind her, but deep within I still want her to understand me, stay close to me, and respond to my feelings. Maybe both are running together inside me. So today I’m asking myself—am I really loving, or am I mistaking my expectations and attachment for love? I’m now feeling that before I go after anything new, I need to look at this inner grip. Perhaps for me, this is what नेति-नेति means right now—to recognize whatever is binding me, and slowly let it go. Show less
