Cases of climate crisis around the world: 1. Rapid glacier loss in Switzerland. 2. Himalayan glacier-related hazards in Nepal. 3. Severe wildfires in Indonesia. 4. Record-low water levels at Lake Powell, USA. 5. Drought and water shortages in Puerto Rico. 6. Record September warmth across the contiguous United States. These events made me realise that climate change is not an isolated problem occurring somewhere outside my life. My lifestyle is connected to a larger system of production, energy use and consumption. Although I cannot directly control every climate event, but I can start with examining my own patterns of consumption, avoid unnecessary waste and make more responsible choices. The deeper inquiry is into the desire for endless comfort, convenience and accumulation. However, personal restraint alone is not enough; industries, governments and public institutions must also change how resources are produced, distributed and used. The real challenge is to bring individual responsibility and collective action together before the consequences become even more difficult to reverse. The Chapter 3 verse 24 of Bhagavad Gita clearly states that, "One’s actions affect others; therefore, responsibility extends beyond personal interests."
