Question: Sir, you said our actions define who we are. But our actions also keep changing from time to time.
A person may be sleeping in this session and be very active in the next. So, can it be said that the definition of who we are keeps changing?
Speaker: Yes! It keeps changing from moment to moment. You are not one entity. You are continuously changing. And it is a rare individual who can maintain an integrity amidst this change.
Do you understand integrity? It means to bring together, to create oneness. It is a rare individual whose mind does not really keep changing but has a constancy underneath. As far as most of us are concerned, our minds keep fluctuating moment to moment. You may be extremely attentive right now – see how you are reclining forward and you want to talk – but were you like this at every particular moment of this session?
No.
So, our minds keep changing moment to moment. And whatever is the quality of our mind at a particular moment, that is what we are. Nothing else.
But when you gain attention, when you start knowing that I am nothing but what I am right now, then you slowly develop, you slowly find out, that there is something constant going on. External situations are changing, but internally there is something which is not changing. But before you find that out, that which is not changing, it is extremely important to see that which is all the time changing. This is the first step and the most important step – to see that which is changing all the time.
Thoughts keep changing all the time. It is extremely important to know that this is so very changeable.
