Description

Acharya Prashant explains that images and symbols were provided by well-wishers as a solution to the mind's tendency to be filled with harmful and random images. Since humans are often obstinate and refuse to submit to other methods, a pristine image is given to act as an 'image buster.' While the ideal purpose of such an image is to dissolve once the mind is cleansed, the tendency to imagine often remains, making it necessary for many to stay with a pure image like Shri Krishna or Jesus Christ to keep worldly influences at bay. He notes that even words and symbols in religions like Islam function as images, making some form of idol worship almost inevitable for the human mind. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that while staying with an image is far better than being occupied by worldly distractions, the ultimate goal is to go beyond the image to the formless truth, which he refers to as 'the Father.' He warns that the greatest danger arises when the ego begins to customize or distort the image to suit personal needs. People often superimpose their own fantasies and interpretations onto scriptures and figures, which he describes as highly dangerous. He advises that if one cannot reach the formless truth, they must at least respect the original image or word without trying to 'decorate' or spin it to fit their own convenience.
