Acharya Prashant explains the fundamental difference between Shiva and the Guru. He states that Shiva is beyond all dualities, desires, and experiences. Because Shiva is the absolute truth and complete in Himself, He has no separate object to experience; therefore, He cannot feel human pain or suffering. Shiva is beyond the reach of human pleas because human language and emotions do not exist in His realm. In contrast, the Guru is not desireless or beyond experience. The Guru is like a human being who has either passed through or is still passing through the same pains and experiences as the seeker. This shared experience is what allows the Guru to have compassion and understand human tears, which the absolute Parbrahm cannot.
