Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the common understanding of love is an egocentric manifestation rooted in exclusion and personal preference. He argues that the ego is incapable of true love; it can only cling, exploit, and expect. For the ego, love must be special and private, which inherently excludes the rest of the world. This exclusivity creates a parasitic relationship where individuals become burdens to one another. He warns that such relationships, characterized by secrets and whispers, lead to suffering and are a form of 'hell.' In contrast, an awakened being like Shri Krishna or the Buddha does not have special relationships because they have no personal ego to satisfy. Their compassion is universal and objective, extending to all without preference. Acharya Prashant further illustrates how egocentric love leads to hostility toward those outside one's 'circle.' He cites examples of people committing corruption or slaughtering animals to benefit their immediate family, showing that such love is actively inimical to the world. He advises against the desire for a 'special' person or the concept of living in pairs, which he describes as a dissociation from the Truth. True compassion, he explains, requires one to be free from their own suffering. One cannot feel the pain of others if they are preoccupied with their own. To be truly compassionate, one must have experienced suffering to understand it, yet be detached from it to offer help. This is why even avatars like Shri Ram are depicted as undergoing extraordinary suffering—to empathize with and assist humanity.
