Description

Acharya Prashant explains that liberation from fear or life-liberation is essentially liberation from the ego. The ego perceives its own existence through its current state of being, experiences, and attachments. From the ego's perspective, liberation feels like death because it involves the end of the only life the ego knows. Consequently, the ego resists and rejects spiritual truths through false logic, fearing that moving beyond its current 'house' of existence will lead to total annihilation. The speaker notes that while liberation appears beautiful from a distance or when described by the liberated, it is terrifying for one who is still caught in a fragmented life. For most people, life is defined by a continuous cycle of tension, fear, greed, and anxiety. Acharya Prashant points out that if these elements are removed, an ordinary person feels as though life itself has been taken away. Spirituality aims to establish the mind in a state like the sky—unaffected by the changing 'weather' of emotions and circumstances. Worldly people often mock spiritual seekers as escapists because they mistake their suffering and mental disturbances for the 'colors of life.' Because the ego is naturally programmed to cling to these disturbances, true surrender to liberation is so rare that it is often considered a divine grace rather than a natural occurrence.
