Description

Acharya Prashant explains that love is a way of relating to others where one does not seek to gain anything or depend on the other person. It is a state of giving rather than taking, which is contrary to the usual human way of relating based on expectations, demands, and mutual needs. Most relationships, whether between parents and children, spouses, or friends, are essentially business-like transactions where the connection ceases if the give-and-take stops. He points out that the high number of court cases and even honor killings within families occur because expectations are highest among relatives. True love can only happen when the mind feels full, complete, and secure in itself, rather than being needy or lonely. He emphasizes that love is a state of mind and cannot be selective. One cannot claim to love one person while being hateful or corrupt toward the rest of the world. A mind that is ambitious, fearful, insecure, or violent is incapable of love. For instance, a mother who is affectionate toward her own child but unkind to a beggar boy does not truly know love, as love would extend to all of existence. Similarly, a corrupt official who steals money to pay for his son's education is not a loving father but is acting out of violence, as his actions harm others. Acharya Prashant concludes that only a clean, innocent, and fearless mind is eligible for love, while most people live and die without ever experiencing it because they are trapped in ego-driven images and conditions.
