Acharya Prashant explains that the fear or restlessness experienced during meditation is not something newly created but is rather an uncovering of what already exists within the mind. He describes meditation as a process of bringing light to the truth, which is always present but remains hidden under the veil of illusion. The mind habitually keeps convenient and pleasant thoughts on the surface while burying fears, selfishness, and unpleasant memories in its deeper layers. When one practices meditation, these layers are peeled away, forcing the individual to confront the hidden contents of their own consciousness, which often leads to a desire to escape the practice.
