Description

Acharya Prashant explains the concept of rebirth using an analogy of a teacher and a student. He posits a scenario where a good teacher has taught thousands of students, who have genuinely imbibed the teachings, or had the 'rubbish' in their minds cleared by these teachings. If this teacher dies and one of their students has a child, that child will be raised with the teacher's wisdom. The child would then possess the same pure quality of mind as the teacher. In a poetic or metaphorical sense, it can be said that the teacher has been reborn as that child. This rebirth, however, is not a literal event where a soul or essence arises from the teacher's dead body and enters the student's womb. Instead, rebirth occurs because of the actions and influence one has during their active lifetime, not after death. The speaker states that whatever a person does impacts the consciousness of all of humanity, and this is how rebirth takes place. Therefore, rebirth is happening every moment. For instance, if one's actions cause another to transform, that person has been 'reborn,' not because a soul was transferred, but because Truth was transmitted to them. The opposite is also true. An innocent person who acquires bad company can have their innocence overshadowed. In this case, the innocent one has 'died,' and someone else has been 'reborn' in their place. The speaker clarifies that subtle truths were often communicated figuratively through myths like transmigration and rebirth so that people could at least partially grasp them. He advises against being too concerned with the literal meaning and instead encourages a deeper inquiry into what these concepts truly signify.
