Acharya Prashant explains that a new kind of spirituality and a new kind of religion are being created secretly. This is a spirituality that has no place for the scriptures, a spirituality that has no soul. Instead, it makes space for common intelligence, what is called ordinary intelligence or common sense. It promotes ideas that are already prevalent among the general public. If you just rephrase these ideas with some improvement, you will be called a guru. If you are a guru of this new religion, you remain at the same center where the public is already operating. You must be careful not to say anything that comes from a different, distant center. For example, if you are with the employees of a company, you teach them how to increase their productivity. This is not the work of religion, nor can it be the work of a religious guru to hold a session on how to increase the productivity of company employees. The work of religion is to raise fundamental questions, such as, "Why are you working here at all? Should you even be in this company?" But this new religion that is becoming prevalent is a religion of indulgence; it is not a religion of deep, honest, fierce curiosity. It does not have the roar of a lion; it has the opportunism of a jackal. At this time, it is very important for Sanatana Dharma to be saved from this new religion which says that we do not accept any scriptures. Those who show great aggression and protest, thinking that the Hindu religion is in danger, are mistaken. They think that the Hindu religion is in danger from other religions. No, sir. The biggest danger to Sanatana Dharma at this time is from these false religious gurus who are within and are digging up the foundations of Sanatana Dharma. We are aiming at the wrong enemy. The advocates of Hindu interests think that Islam or Christianity is the enemy of Sanatana Dharma. Islam and Christianity are both in danger themselves. All the original, old religions or faiths are in danger. This new religion is eating away at all the religions and faiths of the world. You can give that new religion a name: consumptionism, the religion of indulgence. Or egoism, the religion of the ego. Or happyism, the religion of happiness. Or pleasurism. This is the new religion, and the new gurus of this religion do not clearly state that they are priests and promoters of consumptionism. They say, "No, we are followers of Sanatana Dharma," and they use the images, idols, symbols, and language of Sanatana Dharma, but the things they say are completely opposite to Sanatana Dharma. And for this, it becomes their compulsion to tell everyone, "Do not read the books." Because as soon as you read the book, you will know that you are living the wrong life and I am giving you the wrong teachings. To save the world from all kinds of crises, the re-establishment of religion is very necessary. And if religion is to be revived, it is very important to bring the religious scriptures back into the lives of the common people.
