Description

Acharya Prashant explains that there are two distinct types of sadness. The first belongs to the egoistic and narrow mind, which feels sorrow only when its personal desires are unfulfilled or when it faces personal loss. The second type of sadness is that of a saint like Kabir Saheb. This sadness is not for oneself but arises out of compassion for the miserable state of the world. Kabir Saheb weeps for the world because he sees people sleeping in ignorance while he remains awake to their suffering. He lives in a hostile environment, surrounded by those who are inherently violent due to their ignorance. Just as a tongue exists precariously among teeth, a saint lives among those who may even seek to harm or kill him for his teachings. The speaker highlights the saint's commitment to the welfare of all, similar to the concept of a being who refuses personal liberation until everyone else is saved. Despite facing insults, stones, and persecution, the saint remains present for the sake of the world. However, Kabir Saheb also recognizes the inevitable law of cause and effect. He observes that people are deeply attached to their own chains and burdens of sins. When he tries to help, they shut their doors or respond with abuse. Realizing that he cannot break the cycle of karma for those who are unwilling to participate in their own liberation, he tells himself not to be sad, as people must eventually face the consequences of their actions. Acharya Prashant describes the tragic irony of human ignorance through metaphors. He compares the world's reaction to a drowning person who curses the hand extended to save them, or someone trapped in a burning house who throws stones at a rescuer because they mistake the fire for light. Kabir Saheb feels a profound sadness because he sees that the precious, diamond-like human life is being wasted for something worthless. This deep compassion is what drives him to deliver sharp and stinging rebukes to the world, hoping to wake people up from their self-destructive path.
