Description

Acharya Prashant addresses a question about the imbalance between masculine and feminine energies. He begins by clarifying that the way the situation is being comprehended and narrated is based on a flawed premise. He explains that we do not have separate masculine and feminine parts within us. Instead, all that we are—our body, thoughts, impulses, instincts, and emotions—is purely feminine, or *Prakriti* (nature). This applies to everyone, regardless of gender. The entire universe is *Prakriti*, which is feminine. Everything that has form, name, appearance, color, and weight, and can be conceptually described, is feminine, belonging to the material universe and directed by its laws. The speaker further elaborates that *Prakriti* is like a machine that seeks nothing more than its own sustenance and comfortable continuation. It has no higher aspirations, such as liberation or love, and is not the source of any real problem. The masculine, or *Purusha*, is Consciousness. This masculine aspect, which is the center of consciousness, exists equally within both men and women. It is not physical and has no material properties. The masculine, or *Purusha*, has a choice: either to get lost in the game of *Prakriti* or to seek liberation and rejoice in its own solitary freedom. Acharya Prashant states that the relationship between the masculine (*Purusha*) and the feminine (*Prakriti*) is not about achieving a 50-50 balance, but about establishing a correct relationship, which is one of observation. The 'I', or Consciousness, must know and observe what is happening within the body and mind. The problem arises from the misplaced expectation that consuming things of *Prakriti*—be it money, relationships, or food—will lead to inner fulfillment. The task of the *Purusha* is to investigate its relationship with *Prakriti* through self-inquiry, to see what is real and what is not. This involves questioning whether our thoughts, emotions, and identities are truly our own or just random associations from our genes and social conditioning. The ultimate choice for the masculine is to either continue playing the rigged game of *Prakriti* or to do what it must do: observe and understand it.
