Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the common struggle of knowing what is right yet failing to act on it due to changing circumstances. He explains that a person is not a single entity but a collection of many versions of themselves that change every moment because the mind is a slave to external situations. When the environment changes, the mind changes accordingly, leading to inconsistency in behavior and willpower. He emphasizes that the mind does not truly belong to the individual; it is merely a reflection of external influences. To overcome this, one must realize that there is a core within—referred to as consciousness, awareness, or meditation—that remains untouched by external shifts. Just as a root is not affected by the insects on its fruit, this inner core is the constant foundation of one's being. He further explains that current knowledge is often superficial and stored only as memory, which is why it is easily forgotten when needed. True transformation comes from living in awareness rather than relying on memory. He compares the mind's state to an addiction that can only be cured by the 'rehabilitation center' of meditation. Acharya Prashant encourages a brave exploration of the mind, warning that one will encounter suppressed greed, fear, and hatred. However, observing these internal 'impurities' without judgment is the only way to be liberated from them. He advises practicing this awareness continuously throughout daily activities—such as eating, talking, or studying—by questioning one's motives and observing the mind's tendencies without attachment.
