Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the relationship between action and delusion is fundamentally the relationship between the doer and illusion. He asserts that anyone who considers themselves the 'doer' of their actions is living in a state of delusion. Actions occur because they are determined by the physical system and nature; they are mechanical and systemic. These actions do not happen with one's permission or consent, nor can one stop them. However, the identification with the doer-ship and the sense of ownership over actions keeps a being trapped throughout life. He clarifies that emotions like attachment and anger are biological and natural; just as iron gets hot in the sun due to its nature, the human body is conditioned for such reactions. The difference is that while iron does not claim to get hot by choice, humans falsely claim that everything happening to them is a result of their own will, resolve, and decision. He further elaborates that decisions are not made by the individual but by the brain's electrical and magnetic impulses. Humans are unnecessary presences in a self-governing system, yet they arrogantly believe they are the operators. He compares this to a rooster thinking the sun rises because it crows. A liberated person is one who has renounced the right to do and understands that they are untouched by actions. This state of surrender involves realizing that the same power that governs the universe also governs the body. The boat of life continues to move, but the illusion of being the oarsman is dropped. Acharya Prashant concludes that the fear of work stopping if one ceases to be the 'doer' is baseless, as the brain, intellect, and bodily functions do not belong to the individual and operate independently of their claims of ownership.
