Description

Acharya Prashant explains that acknowledging one's suffering and seeking a way out is the maximum effort an individual can make. He states that once a person recognizes the disorder and lack in their life and takes a step toward a solution, they have fulfilled their part. Beyond this point, no further self-expectation is necessary. Knowledge is limited to perceiving what is false and disordered; one cannot know the state of ultimate health or truth while still in a state of suffering. Just as a sick person only needs to know they are in pain to seek a doctor, a seeker only needs to recognize their own restlessness. He further notes that the actual resolution of suffering is not something the individual performs, but something that occurs when they stop questioning the next steps. While an individual may not have the power to create their own liberation, they have the power to obstruct the help that comes. Using the analogy of calling the police but refusing to open the door, he explains that people often fear the very help they prayed for because they are afraid of being exposed. True transformation requires accepting the grace that arrives as a result of one's own deep seeking and prayer, without allowing fear to create barriers.
